about

Well - what can you say about this mammoth opus? The Pips should have been the theme tune to Grumpy Old Men. Hole Song No 2 should be on the NHS with a minimum waiting time of One Second.

This album showcases more of Nick's Lo-Fi singer-songwriter genius than the psychedelic warlord of old. There's too much here to neatly encapsulate in one well-turned paragraph, so you're just gonna have to listen to it, fall in love with it, take it out to dinner, sit at home with it with a fine glass of wine, marry it and live happily ever after.

Try not to shag it though.

Incidentally, the North Circular is the Ring Road around North London - the A406 (hence the Catalogue Number - Woo 406). If you want to go anywhere from Walthamstow (and let's face it, why would you?), then chances are you'll start out on North Circular.

Nick Saloman did everything, so if you don't like it, you can blame him, but no-one's forcing you to listen to it, so I wouldn't bother blaming him as it'll only upset him and leave you feeling ashamed of yourself.
If you do like it, Nick takes all the glory, and boy does he deserve it!

about

Bevis Frond Walthamstow

The Bevis Frond, the band name used by Nick Saloman for his projects, released Miasma in 1986 to great acclaim from fans of psychedelic rock. A steady stream of LPs since then showcase Nick's strengths of strong songwriting, finely crafted lyrics, and a musical mixture from wig-out guitar jams to sensitive folky numbers. New album The Leaving Of London is a triumphant return after a 7 year hiatus. ... more
